Welcome
In my paintings the colours are defined by meanings. Combining colours with textures allow me to create a whole language. I believe creating a painting demands the same intellectual process as writing a book or creating a story, and therefore my paintings can also be read as such. I do not only want to create an aesthetic art object; I aspire for my art objects to narrate particular stories or narratives of oppression, survival, and resistance, all in the aid of memory. As a painter conservator, I have a fascination with paint as a material, and focus on the exploration of historical painting techniques to create contemporary works of art. Since my studies at the Courtauld Institute of Art my painting has taken a new turn. My focus is now on the means of art production as an organic process starting with intellectual conception of ideas, the preparation of the materials and the realization of the object.
